Prime Rib - Family Dinner

Hi Everyone!

Today my family came over for dinner to enjoy some Prime Rib that my Uncle Jimmy asked me to make.   A good time was had by all.  Prime Rib is pretty easy to make.

I used the following:

* Rib Roast
* Montreal Steak Seasoning
* Coarse Salt
* Morton's Nature's Seasoning
* Meat Tenderizer (Use vinegar if you don't have any)
* Garlic Powder
* Pepper
* Butter

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees.

Grease your pan.

Wash and season your meat.

Place the rib roast in the pan fat side up.  Be sure to rub the seasoning into the meat as well as the butter.  Note:  I did this the night before to allow the seasoning to sink into the meat.

Cut slits into the meat.

Make sure that your meat is room temperature before cooking.

Add about 2 - 3 cups of water to the pan.

Bake for 15-20 minutes at 450.  Then lower the temperature to 350.

Baste the meat every half hour to ensure tenderness.

Depending on the size of you roast, bake for 15 minutes per pound of your roast.  My roast was almost 9 pounds, so I baked my roast for about 2 1/2 - 3 hours.  My family likes their meat alittle more well done.

Once done, remove from the oven and let stand for 20 minutes to settle before slicing.  Even though you removed your roast, it is actually still cooking.

Slice and serve with your sides.

Enjoy!
